Sr. Backend Fullstack Engineer at Landed

As a Sr. Backend Fullstack Engineer you will:
- Own critical product areas end to end: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration
- Operate as the DRI for your domain with minimal guidance, driving decisions and unblocking yourself
- Focus on the Backend in Ruby on Rails while traversing the stack into LANDED’s Frontend web (Hotwire) and Mobile
- Lead hands-on LLM and Generative AI feature development and productionization
- Design and build systems and products that align with business objectives and real user needs
- Be responsible for the upkeep, performance optimization, reliability, and scale-up of LANDED’s current product and processes
- Uphold high engineering and security standards and continuously improve LANDED’s codebases and ways of working
- Establish observability and operational excellence practices (metrics, logging, alerts, incident response)
- Troubleshoot and address bugs or issues swiftly and efficiently
- Collaborate cross-functionally to shape specs, ship measurable outcomes, and learn from impact
- Mentor teammates, give clear reviews, and help raise the engineering bar
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Have 6+ years of experience as a Backend or Full-stack Engineer delivering projects of varying complexity
- Are highly proficient with Ruby on Rails and comfortable working across the stack when needed
- Have experience working with JavaScript
- Have strong experience with relational databases, mainly PostgreSQL, and ORM libraries like ActiveRecord, including performance tuning
- Thrive in autonomy, prefer ownership over direction, and bring structure to ambiguous problems without hand holding
- Like to ship code and test user-facing changes swiftly and rapidly, using CI/CD and automated testing
- Learn quickly in new environments with a solutions-focused mindset
- Communicate clearly and collaborate well in cross-functional settings
Bonus points if you:
- Have commercial experience with React or React Native
- Have experience with or are willing to learn Hotwire and Stimulus
- Have experience in the SaaS or FinTech space, LLM development, and/or Applicant Tracking System or Human Resource Information System integrations
- Have led projects end to end, influenced architecture, and mentored other engineers
- Are comfortable with background jobs and caching in Rails (e.g., Sidekiq, Redis) and with cloud infrastructure and deployment tooling
